The highest level of check available for individuals who are regularly caring; training; supervising; or being left in sole charge of children or vulnerable adults. It is also the level of check required for certain licensing purposes or judicial appointments. The information provided for this check is the same as standard disclosure, but any other relevant information about an individual, held by the Police, will also be disclosed. This may be very sensitive personal information, but a Code of Practice has been put in place to protect this information and ensure it is handled fairly and properly.
The basic level of check that is required for all people working with children or vulnerable adults. A Standard Disclosure details current and spent convictions; cautions; reprimands and warnings that are stored on the central police computer. Depending on the post in question, it may also search the Protection of Children list, the Protection of Vulnerable Adults list and any information that is held under section 142 of the Education Act 2002.
